Volleyball: 2021 MGVB Crimson Program Update – Season and Tryout Details

Good Afternoon Crimson Families,

Tryouts for the 2021 Maple Grove Crimson High School Volleyball season will take place on Monday (8/16) through Wednesday (8/18) from 9AM-12PM at the Maple Grove High School.

Here are some details about our High School Program and Try-outs for this season (Note that all decisions will be based on enrollment numbers and may change):

- All teams within the program will have a developmental focus to them while working to teach competitive play

- Practices are typically every night after school in 2-2.5 hour blocks (between 3:30-7:00 depending on the level and situation) except nights when we have matches
- Matches will have the following start times – Freshmen 4:15PM, B-Squad/JV 5:30PM, Varsity 7:00PM
- Completion of the district registration for the program through your SmartSchoolK12 portal account is required BEFORE an athlete can set foot on the court for try-outs
     - The registration portal typically becomes available as of the beginning of August – We will communicate out as soon as we see it become active

     - This includes having the required athletics physical on file with the Activities Office AND payment of the $190 district activities fees (refunded if athlete does not make a team)
- Tryout evaluation will look at not only Individual Skills, Court IQ, and Interactive Gameplay as well as Attitude, Effort, Sportsmanship, and Other Traits while On/Off Court
- Teams will be filled based on the evaluation results with input from all coaches involved with try-outs
- The program has limits on the total number of players per team as well as the number of athletes needed for any given position
     - While we try to limit them, there can be cuts resulting from tryouts either based on the total number of athletes OR number of players vying for specific positions
- There is an additional participation fee through the MG Volleyball Boosters as part of the management of the program (typically under $200)

Please reach out with any questions or needs!

Thanks!

Volleyball: 2021 MGVB Crimson Program Update – Captains’ Practices Schedule Update and Signup

Good Afternoon Crimson Families,

With the season fast approaching,

MGVB will be holding our annual pre-season Captain's Practice sessions August 9th- August 13th (Monday-Friday) from 2-4 PM.  These sessions are run by the program's varsity captains with oversight by MGVB Booster Board Members.  They are meant to give opportunities for athletes to get some touches on the ball, get to know others in the program better, and get geared up to compete prior to tryouts the following week.

***NOTE that this is an OPTIONAL event and has NO impact on program try-out results***

While the current CDC, MSHSL, District 279 and Maple Grove Activities guidelines have been relaxed from last season, we still have your daughters and our coaches safety at the forefront of our focus.  As such, we are REQUESTING signup prior to attendance.  This will allow us to manage numbers, plan courts, etc.

Sign-Up Form - https://forms.gle/ukaC2L1zEbvSjUoF9

We also ask that all families still take precautions when sending their athlete to any athletic events.  Please perform a self-wellness check the day of the event and stay home if the athlete is feeling ill or has been exposed to someone that has illness symptoms.

We will hold the event at MN Select Volleyball Club at 8686 Valley Forge Ln N, Osseo, MN 55369.

ALL players who enter MN Select MUST complete the MN Select Volleyball Club Waiver of Liability. It is available here:

https://mnselectvolleyball.sportngin.com/register/form/590063892

Players should come prepared to play (court attire, shoes, knee pads, and water bottle).

Let’s Go Crimson!

Volleyball: 2021 MGVB Crimson Program Update – Free Sports Physical Offerings

Volleyball: 2021 MGVB Crimson Program Update – Free Sports Physical Offerings

Good Afternoon Crimson Families,

I hope this message finds all of our MGVB Athletes and Families healthy and enjoying your Summer break!

The 2021 Fall Volleyball Season is coming on so fast! Make sure you have your sports physical requirements met as they are required just to step on the court for try-outs. Sports physicals are good for 3 years (MSHSL Bylaw 107) but not a bad idea as a check-up before each season. To make all this easier, Twin Cities Orthopedics and TRIA are offering Free Sports Physicals again this year in early August!

Check out the following opportunities with upcoming availability (registration is required):

Twin Cities Orthopedics - August 2-5, 2021 - https://tcomn.com/sportsphysicals/

TRIA – Aug 2, Aug 3, Aug 5, Aug 12 - https://tria.com/physicals/

There are probably others out there too!

Can’t wait to see the girls back out on the court this Fall! Go Crimson!

Thanks!

Volleyball: 2020 MGVB Crimson Program Update – Final Gear Turn-In

Volleyball: 2020 MGVB Crimson Program Update – Final Gear Turn-In

Good Evening Crimson VB Families,

I hope this Monday finds all of our MGVB Athletes and Families healthy and getting ready to kick off the start of Summer break! I know it has been a crazy year and a while since the end of our official season! With the school year ending as of the end of the week, we still have a few athletes that have equipment (jerseys, bags, warm-ups, etc.) to turn in. We want to make sure that all outstanding gear turn-in takes place to avoid student account holds that can prevent sign-up for future sports/clubs or graduation finalization.

The Crimson Equipment Room will be open from 2:10-3:15PM Tuesday (6/8) and Wednesday (6/9) for equipment turn-in.

If neither of those two times work for your family, I would ask that you reach out to me directly (763-218-9108) this week to set up a time for me to pick up any remaining gear you have left.

Thanks!
